    Course Contents (description)

    This Course is an introduction to Management Information Systems and Information Technology. It provides a foundation for the intelligent use of computers as Management Tools. This Course will assist Business Students in learning how to use and manage Information Technology to support business operations and objectives, to improve managerial decision-making and to gain competitive advantage.

    1. Information Systems in Global Business Today

    2. Global E-Business: How Businesses Use Information Systems

    3. Information Systems, Organizations, and Strategy

    4. IT Infrastructure and Emerging Technologies

    5. Foundations of Business Intelligence: Databases and Information Management

    6. Telecommunications, the Internet, and Wireless Technology

    7. Enhancing Decision Making

    8. Building Information Systems

    Intended learning Outcomes and Competences

    At the end of this course students expected to

    1. Recognize the importance of integrating Org., Mgmt, and Technology  within strategic planning to increase org. performance

    2. Apply the concept of system and system’s thinking to analyze business problems and opportunities in the digital age.

    3. Distinguish the functions of IS in the different managerial levels.

    4. Evaluate the strategic role of IS creating and sustaining competitive advantages.

    5. Construct knowledge structure about managerial concepts in digital firms.

    6. Formulate the relationships between IS, Org. and Business processes.

    7. Recognize IT infrastructure required for digital organization

    8. Focus on the information systems that support decision-making in a firm

    9. Explain activities involved in systems development, and the various methodologies used to build information systems
