Transport across membrane .

by ماسه ناجح سعيد غنام _ - Saturday, 19 February 2022, 9:08 PM

There are two basic ways that substances can cross the plasma membrane :passive and active transport.

Passive transport occurs when substances cross the plasma membrane without any input of energy from the cell. No energy is needed because the substances are moving from an area where they have a higher concentration to an area where they have a lower concentration.there are several different types of passive transport including diffusion, osmosis, facilitated diffusion( transport proteins).and the motor force is the down concentration gradient.

However ,the active transport occurs when energy is needed for substances to move across a plasma membrane ,energy is needed because the substance is moving from low to high concentration and the motor force is the against a concentration gradient.
