Fatty acids are the basic building blocks of fats in our bodies and in food. They are components of all membrane lipids except for sterols. The body breaks down fats into fatty acids and their hydrocarbon tails provide a diffusion of polar solutes. The sizes of fatty acids range between 12-20 carbon atoms, and there are two types of fatty acids: saturated fatty acid And unsaturated fatty acid

Cholesterol is found in animal cell membrane.it makes the membrane more fluid and stable .This is through  what is nkown fluidity buffer,This means cholesterol acts as abidirectional regulator of membrane fluidity because at high temperatures it stabilizes the membrane and raises its melting point whereas at low  temperatures if intercalates between the phospholipids and prevents them from clustering together and stiffening .
