This course introduces the fundamental concepts of probability as an essential tool for engineering analysis and decision-making. Students learn the foundational principles of probability theory, including discrete and continuous random variables and their associated probability distributions, to model and analyze uncertainty in engineering systems. The course also explores random sampling methods and data description techniques, with an emphasis on graphical and numerical summaries commonly used in engineering contexts. In addition, the course covers fundamental statistical analysis methods and their application to solving engineering problems, including confidence intervals and hypothesis testing for one-sample and two-sample cases.
